About IBD/TIPP Polls & Indices
Investor's Business Daily (IBD) and TIPP produce a range of ongoing and special polls to gauge economic, political, and social trends. Our polls are regularly cited by the nation's leading media organizations, elected officials, and influential think tanks.
The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index is the earliest take on consumer confidence each month and predicts with 80% reliability monthly changes in sentiment in well-known polls by The Conference Board and the University of Michigan. The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index is based on a survey of 900-plus adults chosen at random nationwide. The poll is generally conducted in the first week of the month.
Each month, IBD and TIPP also produce the IBD/TIPP National Outlook Index and the IBD/TIPP Presidential Leadership Index.
An analysis of Final Certified Results for the 2004 election showed TIPP was the most accurate pollster of the campaign season, coming within three-tenths of a percentage point of Bush’s actual margin of victory.
